This riverbank, erected in the 1970’s, aimed to protect the resort from the floods; over time it has become the most important promenade in Birštonas. Statue of Vytautas the Great was built from pink granite by sculptor G. Jokūbonis and architect V. Čekanauskas. One of the oldest wooden buildings in Lithuania, Kurhaus located just a short distance from Vytautas Park. Since opening in 1855, it differed from similar houses. The hundred-year-old Žvėrinčius oak has been one of the major tourist attractions until recently. According to legend, the Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas rested under his branches during the hunt.
