In February of this year, Lithuanian airports offered three times as many destinations - 67. Last year, passengers were offered 22 destinations at the same time. In 2019, there were 85 direct flights.

Representatives of Lithuanian airports remind that the summer aviation season is officially starting at the end of March, and some airlines are already preparing for it, renewing it or launching new routes.

"Recent events and the war in Ukraine have undoubtedly had the greatest impact on those airlines that have had routes to and from Ukraine or have kept their aircraft there. As for the impact on Lithuanian airports in particular, we do not yet see any major fluctuations in the number of passengers, as most routes are to other European countries. According to our calculations, the discontinued direct routes to Ukraine will reduce the total number of passengers by about 2 percent, ”said Aurimas Stikliūnas, Head of the Aviation Services Division at Lithuanian Airports.
