about

Russia's military invasion in February 2022 irreversibly changed the destinies of all Ukrainians and disrupted life in Europe. For those directly experiencing war, the choices are clear: fight or flee. However, being further away from him, the questions multiply: to be interested or to ignore, to make silent sacrifices or to join forces and actively resist? More than a hundred members of the Lithuanian film community gathered in the voluntary film project "Letter to Ukraine", the purpose of which is to record what is happening in our country at this difficult time. In the center of the film is a person near the war: a passer-by, a protester, a volunteer, a doctor, an artist. Are we doing enough and is there any hope of influencing the outcome of the war? Can our efforts become a myth and instruction for future generations? Or maybe we got tired too soon and gave up? In this exciting documentary film, hundreds of Lithuanian residents who are indifferent to the pain of Ukrainians and activists of civil initiatives, including Jonas Ohmanas, Rūta Meilutytė, Oleg Šuraevs and others, are immortalized. The tense situations of such organizations as "Blue/Yellow", "Stiprūs Kartu" and others are revealed in the film. behind the scenes. The film was born and continues its life with the unification of hundreds of members of the film community. The historical events documented in it can become a tool to reflect on our civil society, which in special circumstances is able to mobilize and create a significant change. The proceeds from the screening of the film will be used for humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.
The film is in Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Russian, with Lithuanian subtitles.
