17th century, Italy. Benedetta Karlini (Virginia Efira) lives in a Tuscan nunnery. From adolescence, a woman experiences extremely realistic and often shocking religious and erotic visions. The nun also claims to be able to perform miracles. A charismatic woman quickly earns a privileged place in the hierarchy of the monastery. However, Benedetta's inner peace is disturbed by a sudden and overwhelming attraction to the young nun Bartholomew (Daphne Patakia). As feelings heat up between the two women, rumors of Benedetta's misconduct inevitably reach the highest echelons of the Italian church. A game full of intrigue, traps, and betrayals begins, which can only end in two ways: either Benedetta's victory or her destruction. On one side is a powerful religious organization with a lot of resources and leverage; on the other, a lonely nun struggles for her identity, honor, and freedom.
