in 1973 on the night of July 10, around three o'clock in the morning, 16-year-old John Paul Getty III was kidnapped near the Farnezi Palace in Rome. The members of the Calabrian Ndrangheta who organized the kidnapping knew exactly what they were targeting. Young John's grandfather, J. Paul Getty was the richest man in the world at the time, founder and owner of Getty Oil. His fortune was estimated at 1.2 billion. US dollars (adjusted for inflation, it would now be almost nine billion). The kidnappers demanded 17 million. dollar ransom, but the grandfather refused to pay.
Cinema great Ridley Scott tells the breathtaking story of John's mother Gail (actress Michelle Williams), who is desperately looking for a way out.
