On 24th September 2007 the TIC of Birštonas organised an event dedicated to the World Tourism Day and European Heritage Days. Although the slogan of the World Tourism Day this year was “Tourism Opens Doors for Women”, the TIC of Birštonas focused on the topics of European Heritage Days – Cultural Tourism and introduced a new cultural route, “In the Footmarks of the Painter Nikodemas Silvanavičius”.
The new route is 80 km long and leads through the territories of Birštonas municipality and the Prienai and Alytus regions. The aim of Birštonas TIC was to introduce religious paintings from the local painter, Silvanavičius. It was implemented with the help from photographer Gintaras Česonis, art critic of Lithuanian Art Museum Dalia Tarandaitė, Head of Pranas Gudynas Centre for Restoration Jūratė Senvaitienė, Dean of Jieznas Church Rolandas Bičkauskas, Dean of Stakliškės Church Alfredas Rukšta, Dean of Punia Church Vytas Sabaliauskas, information specialist of Nemunas Loops Regional Park directorate Rosita Dargienė, language editor Laura Grendienė, designer Darius Aleksandravičius and actor Andrius Žiurauskas.
