Let’s meet the autumn with dahlia

In the XIXth century, the first dahlia blossoms from Saint Petersburg were brought to Lithuania - to Ustronė manor located in the neighborhood of Birštonas. Writer Stanislovas Moravskis, the owner of this manor, enriched his collection each year.

On 11 September 2010, Stanislovas Moravskis (actor Andrius Žiurauskas) invited to recall the history of dahlias in Lithuanian and rejoice at their mottled blossoms when listening to the works of romanticism era (musicians Olga Majorova and Vladimiras Majorovas).

In the meantime, children were drawing multicoloured dahlias with crayons on the paving...

On the bank of Nemunas River, where the sculpture that became a symbol of resort was standing once, young florist Ineta Naujalytė used dahlia blossoms to lay out a little whale ready to jump into the waves of the river and hide in the water as its predecessor did.

In the meanwhile, Birštonas accordion choir "Solo Plius" was playing joyful melodies for the gathered crowd.
