Birštonas has expanded its sports infrastructure: the resort's first paddle tennis courts have opened
It is located on the territory of the Natur Camp Birštonas campsite . The new complex marks an important step in the resort's expansion of sports and leisure infrastructure and in keeping with international sports trends.
Paddle tennis is a rapidly growing sport that has already won the hearts of many players around the world. According to the International Paddle Federation (FIP), about 30 million people currently play paddle on 60 thousand courts around the world . The paddle infrastructure in Lithuania is also growing - the country's paddle federation unites 12 clubs, where more than 8,000 people play paddle, and the country's best players participate in international Cupra FIP Tour tournaments.
Padel does not require much physical preparation, its technique and rules are simpler and more understandable than tennis, and the game is always played in fours (two against two), so it is perfect for socializing and having a good time. The closest padel courts to Birštonas are currently in Prienai district, Kaunas and Alytus, so the new court will complement the existing regional sports infrastructure and the network of padel courts in Lithuania.
“Seeing how rapidly the popularity of paddle tennis is growing, we want Birštonas to offer new sports opportunities to its guests and residents,” says Linas Žabaliūnas, founder of the camping site “Natur Camp Birštonas.” “Our goal is not only to maintain the image of Birštonas as a modern, constantly renewing resort, but also to attract a new audience of sports enthusiasts and professionals.”
Rūta Kapačinskaitė, head of the Birštonas Tourism Information Center, emphasizes that active leisure and a variety of sports activities are one of the most important offers of a modern resort for tourists. “Whether guests come to relax, get healthy or work – sports become an integral part of their stay at the resort. The padel tennis courts will provide even more choice for our visitors.”
Unique panoramic solution
The new Birštonas paddle tennis courts are distinguished by modern technological solutions. The court is equipped with panoramic glass walls that do not have metal structures, so players feel like they are in an open space that merges with the green nature of the resort. The authors of the project also paid special attention to the coating - the green color was chosen so that the synthetic surface of the paddle courts would become part of the environment, taking into account the nearby pine forest and meadows.
The new paddle tennis courts meet all international standards and are suitable for both beginners and advanced players. The complex will also organize professional training sessions with instructors and tournaments, and equipment will be available for rent.
The course will operate using a modern electronic reservation system, so city residents and guests will be able to reserve courses even after the camping season ends (until November). During the warm season, when the campsite is open and taking into account the quiet time of vacationers, the first reservation will be available from 9 a.m., and the last one at 8 p.m.
Reservations can be made for game intervals lasting from half an hour to an hour and a half. The reservation system is already up and running and accepting orders.
Part of the campsite development
The newly installed paddle tennis court is the third successful step in the development of Natur Camp Birštonas. The creators of the campsite purposefully divided the project into several stages. In 2020, a campsite with tent and cabin infrastructure was opened, followed by the second, which included the development of recreation and sports infrastructure - luxury camping tents were built, and a climbing tower was installed nearby. Later, after receiving a building permit, preparations began for the third stage - the construction of paddle tennis courts.
Next to the campsite and the paddle tennis court, there is a complete sports and entertainment facility: a water trampoline park, an extreme water sports park, a Birštonas beach sports field, tennis courts, a climbing tower. In addition, along with the opening of the paddle courts, camping guests will be greeted by a joyful innovation - a renovated and enlarged outdoor terrace with an outdoor bar has been opened, providing visitors with more space and amenities.
