About the project
Birštonas Tourism Information Centre, together with its Polish partner – the City of Ełk – is implementing Project No. LTPL00290 “Workation as a Cross-Border Tourism Destination”.
Lead partner – City of Ełk, Poland
Project objective – To strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion, and social innovation.
Project tasks:
- increase the visibility of the cross-border region as a tourist destination;
- reduce seasonality in the tourism industry;
- promote more efficient use of natural resources for tourism services;
- integrate tourism needs with social and educational aspects;
- promote joint tourism products – create the “Workation” brand that will raise the region’s profile, reduce seasonality, and stimulate social innovation.
Expected results upon project completion:
- Dissemination of tourism resources will be ensured.
- A positive image of the resort will be formed in Lithuania and abroad.
- Cross-border cooperation will be strengthened.
- The “Workation” brand will help attract tourists and reduce seasonality.
- Marketing measures will increase the number of tourists from Lithuania and abroad.
- The supply and diversity of tourism services will grow. Small and medium-sized businesses will have more opportunities to expand.
Total project value: €159,592.50, of which €127,674.00 is financed by the Interreg VI-A Lithuania–Poland Programme.
The share of the Birštonas Tourism Information Centre amounts to €70,417.50, of which €56,334.00 is financed by the European Union.
