A new beach soccer field was opened in Biršton: 1 thousand were used. tons of sand

Much more than usual sand was used for the construction of the field - as much as 1 thousand tons. The new sports venue is equipped with ball traps, a 60-seat mobile grandstand for spectators, and the football field will be available to both professional athletes and amateurs.

On the second day of the "BirštONizizam" holiday, residents and guests of the resort have the opportunity to try exercise and wellness procedures in the open air, participate in various creative activities and concerts. There is also an intensive sports program, and the most important sports event of the resort holiday is the opening of a new beach soccer field and the Lithuanian beach soccer championship taking place here.

"The beach soccer field was born out of the need to extend and diversify the soccer season through the efforts of the municipality. Beach soccer is a summer game that, we hope, will attract not only professional athletes, but also resort guests and local youth to play sports and spend time in the fresh air. In the future, this field will be able to be adapted for beach volleyball and tennis, thus we continue to popularize various sports in the resort", says Saulius Smailys, manager of the Birštonas sports center, about the new beach football field.

"Approximately 1 thousand tons of sand, which is significantly more than the usual practice of 800 tons. The square naturally blends into the landscape of Birštonas due to the well-chosen location - it did not need to prepare a special water drainage system. An excellent recreation area with a 60-seat mobile tribune for spectators has been created for sportsmen and their supporters, the number of which is expected to be increased as needed", - the mayor of Birštonas municipality Nijolė Dirginčienė shared the plans.

Birštonas sports center organized all installation work. The Lithuanian Football Federation took care of the competitive equipment - gates, safety nets, field boundary markers. The construction of the field lasted a year, and it meets all FIFA standards for a beach soccer field.

You can play sports in Birštona not only on the newly opened beach soccer field, but also in the Birštonas sports center. The Sports and Wellness Center, which started operating here in March, is becoming more and more popular, both individual (aerobic gymnastics, athletics, rowing, power triathlon) and game sports (football, basketball, chess, tennis) are attracting great interest.

For the needs of sportsmen, the resort has a stadium, the aforementioned Sports and Wellness Center, tennis courts, a pétanque court, two outdoor basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, a roller and skateboard ramp. Two outdoor volleyball and outdoor tennis courts have recently been installed in the outdoor area of Vytautas Mineral SPA, so not only individual guests, but also groups can play outdoor volleyball or tennis.

After the sports competition, the participants of the resort holiday are still waiting for the big concert on Saturday at the Summer stage. Here, the group "The Roop" promises a wild disco next to Nemunas, sentiments will be given by Monika Liu with the group "Los Secretos de Pablo", and enchanting melodies by Augustė Vedrickaitė with the group.
