The "Poetry Spring" readings feature exceptional authors

May 27 (Saturday) at 7 p.m. Traditional poetry readings of the "Poetry Spring 2023" festival will take place in Birštonas Kurhaus.

This year, interesting, unique, original poets are coming to the poetry evening: Doris Kareva (Estonia), Indrė Valantinaitė, Dainius Dirgėla, Greta Ambrazaitė, Dominykas Norkūnas, Ieva Rudžianskaitė, Viktoras Rudžianskas; the lines will be read by actress Virginija Kochanskytė; Laima Žilytė, initiator and organizer of the singing poetry "Ant Nevėžio kranta", performer of singing poetry.

We will meet Doris Kareva from Estonia for the first time. The poet graduated from the University of Tartu in Romance-Germanic philology, and worked for the culture weekly "Sirp". 1992-2008 was the Secretary-General of the Estonian National Commission for UNESCO, now edits fiction at the literary magazine Looming. As the Lithuanian Writers' Union informs, D. Kareva "published dozens of poetry collections and several prose works, translated poems, essays and plays, compiled anthologies of Estonian and translated poetry (from English), participated in many events in Estonia and abroad. Kareva's poetry has been translated into several dozen languages, many Estonian, English, Swedish, Dutch, Italian, etc. country composers have created music for it. Theater and ballet productions based on her works have been staged: "Mandragora" at the Tallinn City Theater (2003), "Dream Cafe" at the Rakvere Theater (2010), "In the Presence of the Gods", "After the World" at the National Opera House "Estonia" (2012).
The author was honored not only with literary prizes: she won the State Culture Prize of the Republic of Estonia twice (1983, 2005), in 2001 - "The Order of the White Star 4th degree."

Poet Indrė Valantinaitė , who graduated from Kaunas Jesuit High School, studied cultural management at Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty of Humanities, UNESCO Cultural Management and Cultural Policy studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts. in 2006 won the "First Book" manuscript competition of the Lithuanian Writers' Union and debuted with the collection of poems "Zuvim ir lelijom". The author's poetry has been translated into 20 foreign languages. in 2018 awarded the Salomeja Nėries prize for the book of poems "Trumpametražiai".

Dainius Dirgėla graduated from Lithuanian language and literature and classical philology at Vilnius University. He currently works in an advertising agency, is a member of the "Strangers" poet group, a member of the World Haiku Association, and a creator of haiku and haiga. in 2007 nominated as the author of the best "Haiku for Vilnius", 2013 the collection of poems "Observer's Notes" was nominated in the Poetry Book of the Year competition.

Greta Ambrazaitė graduated from Vilnius University with a bachelor's degree in Lithuanian philology and a master's degree in literary studies. In his spare time, he likes to create electronic music and sings. in 2023 the book "Adela" was nominated in the Poetry Book of the Year election, 2023. awarded the Young Editor's Award for creative editing of prose and poetry books, responsible approach to the book creation process. In the same year - prize "Iverija" (Sakartvelas) - St. Ilya's cross for the translations of young Sakartvelo poets into Lithuanian.

Dominykas Norkūnas studied German philology at Vilnius University. in 2021 published his debut book of poetry "Darkness is an Octopus". One of the most productive young translators, translating from English, German, Latvian, Dutch, Russian, Yiddish. He was awarded the Dominykos Urbas prize for his masterful translation of Jerome Rothenberg's collection of poems "Khurbn". Together with M. Burok, he translated several books of poetry by Nobel laureate Louise's Gluck. He is engaged in publishing activities at the Embassy of Basilisk.

Ieva Rudžianskaitė obtained a bachelor's degree in Catholic theology from Vytautas the Great University, in 2012. – Master's degree in philosophy, 2017 VSU defended his PhD thesis "Apophatic discourse in the 20th century: chōra as ignorance". From 2018 - editor of the publishing house "Kauko Laiptai". in 2020 awarded the Zigmos Gėlės-Gaidamavičius prize for poetry for the stylishly prepared book "Kita"; in 2021 "Varpų" literary prize for the publication "Poetry and its reality"; in 2022 Antanas Miškinis literary prize for the book of poems "From cranes".
