Aurimas Stikliūnas, Head of Aviation Services at Lithuanian Airports, says that such an increase in aviation traffic is logical, as many European countries have lifted additional restrictions and additional inspections during the pandemic period, which has significantly facilitated travel processes.

"In terms of seasonality, March is already characterized by higher traffic in aviation, which is an introduction to summer travel, so in our opinion, this March already largely reflects all the trends we saw in the pre-pandemic period. Travelers really no longer want to delay their travel and have taken bolder opportunities to fly for business, vacation or visiting relatives. We are seeing growth and a steady recovery in all categories of aviation indicators, and airports have come even closer to the challenges of a full recovery from the pandemic, ”says A. Stikliūnas.

According to the expert, it is important to note that the Russian war in Ukraine was already going on throughout March. Despite the geopolitical tensions in the first month of spring, this did not negatively affect passenger flows at Lithuanian airports.
