From 2013 to 2018, the quality of life improved the most in Birštonas

The website of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania lietuvosfinansai.lt presents a quality of life index, the indicators of which can be compared and see their changes from 2013 to 2018.

The quality of life index consists of 38 indicators in 6 areas: material living conditions; population entrepreneurship and business competitiveness; health services; educational services; demographic, civic and social activism; public infrastructure, quality and safety of the living environment. All indicators are converted so that they can be compared with each other.
According to Lietuvosfinansai.lt, from 2013 to 2018, the general situation improved the most in Birštonas, Ignalina, Šalčininkai, Prienai and Trakai. The lowest progress was recorded in Zarasai, Vilnius, Kazlų Rūda, Varėna and Visaginas.
In general, in 2018, the first place in Lithuania (national average 0.48) was Vilnius City Municipality (0.87), the second place was Klaipėda City (0.71), the third place was Kaunas City (0.7), and the fourth place was Birštonas (0 , 68), in the fifth - Neringa (0.65).
Although Birštonas municipality is one of the smallest municipalities in Lithuania, it competes with large Lithuanian cities in the quality of life index. The good positioning of the municipality in the ranking and its growth is determined by timely decisions in the field of public infrastructure, quality of living environment and safety.

Comparing the country's resorts, Birštonas is in the first place, overtaking Neringa, Palanga. and Druskininkai municipalities.

Birštonas belongs to the Kaunas region, therefore, comparing the municipalities of this region, Birštonas ranks second and is not inferior to Kaunas city municipality.

Comparing the sub-index of material conditions (national average 0.2), the value assigned to Vilnius was 0.34, that of Birštonas was 0.31 (2013: 0.12), and that of Klaipėda was 0.3. At that time, the worst situation was in Kalvarija municipality (0.09), Zarasai district (0.13) and Šalčininkai (0.14).
In the field of public infrastructure, quality and safety of the living environment, Birštonas and the partner of the resort Neringa municipality collected 0.13. After them - Palanga, Širvintos and Ukmergė (0.11). The worst situation is in Mažeikiai (0.06), Panevėžys and Pagėgiai (0.07 each).
The latest quality of life index is so far only based on 2018 data. In 2021, this index should be updated with data for 2019, 2020 and 2021.
