Experience, communicate and move in nature

2022/07/08 Culture

It was so wonderful to exchange the sweltering heat of the city for a haven of nature and experience the most memorable summer week, full of adventure, active activities, excitement and clamor, accompanied by the constant freshness of swimming, the chirping of birds, the taste of blueberries and the longed-for sense of community...

Even the most timid and computer-obsessed children are often fascinated by new experiences. The knowledge and skills acquired through experience almost unconsciously inspire courage and self-confidence, and the necessity of live communication encourages searching and finding inventive solutions while overcoming new challenges every day, and provides an opportunity to feel a connection with nature, peers and oneself. This experience is carried with them by 29 children who participated in the summer camp "Experience, communicate and move in nature" organized by the Youth Association "Patirk" from June 26 to July 2, located in Nemunas kilpa regional park, Trakelii village. At the camp, children aged 7-12 rowed kayaks and paddle boards, took part in a hike, shot a bow, overcame an obstacle course and a climbing wall, skated on a rope, built a tower of boxes suspended in the air, turned their heads while encrypting signs and searched for treasure, learned the secrets of survival in nature, competed in competitions, played active strategy games and bathed a lot.
The sports day at the camp became especially memorable due to the visit of the youth Olympic champion rower Rolandas Maščinskas. After all, it is not every day that you can see and interview a famous athlete and try the Concept trainers used in the training of professional athletes. The children heard that not only hard training, but also nutrition, daily routine, and sleep are very important for athletes. Rolandas emphasized that personal motivation together with a team spirit of fellowship is necessary both in sports, in learning and in achieving other goals, and the failures that occur provide valuable experience and force us not to stop and to constantly try to find new solutions to further achieve the set goal.
Parents of campers recognize that this year, more than ever before, children feel that they miss communication and movement in nature and begin to consciously appreciate the comprehensive benefits they provide for physical and emotional health. Although camping in nature comes with quite a few challenges, a week full of challenges with new friends actually becomes an unforgettable and valuable experience that children share for a long time, and many of them return here again.
The camp was partially supported by the TAPK project, financed by European social funds, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and administered by the Educational Exchange Support Fund.
The summer of our camps is only halfway through. Photo gallery, information and registration for other camps of the Youth Association "Patirk" can be found on the fb page  facebook.com/PatirkRenginiai
