To commemorate the 640th anniversary of Birštonas, the Birštonas Public Library continues the literary-musical events project "Literary evenings under the starry sky of Birštonas", updating the historical and cultural heritage of Birštonas and invites you to the final events of the project.

November 13 on Sunday at 5 p.m. In the Biršton Kurhaus , historian Simonas Matulevičius will read a report "Grand Duke of Lithuania and King of Poland Kazimierz Jogailaitis and his royal family in Biršton". The Lithuanian grand dukes knew Birštonas Castle from the reign of King Jogaila to Vytautas - four hundred years, the itineraries convincingly show that as many as 12 rulers resided here, performing state management functions and hunting in the Žvērinčius Forest. Birštonas was not only loved by Vytautas. The Grand Duke of Lithuania and the King of Poland Kazimieras Jogailaitis visited Birštonas estates as many as 17 times.
Birštonas is the residence of the kings of the Jogailaičiai dynasty, as many as 6 Jogailaičiai kings resided here, it can be said that ALL the kings of the Jogailaičiai dynasty, except King Vladislaus III, who died early in the battle near the city of Varna, and who did not have time to visit Lithuania. Also Queen Elžbieta Habsburgaitė, whose four sons became kings and who visited Birštona with her husband King Kazimierz Jogailaitis in 1475. In the report, S. Matulevičius will present his insights on this. During the evening, the old music ensemble "Chiaroscuro" will play. Actor Rimantas Bagdzevičius will read a unique work from the Renaissance era - the poem "Hymn about the Lithuanian River Nemunas" by Adam Šrėteris Silesiatis. For Biršton, located on the right bank of the Nemunas, this river was and is important, precious and historically significant, just like the Žvērinčius forest.

November 23 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. In Kurhaus, we invite you to the final evening of the project to listen to the presentation of historian S. Matulevičius "Royal faces and names of Biršton: from Vytautas the Great to Vladislaus Vaza". The lecturer will provide information about the 14th-17th centuries. residence of the rulers in Biršton, according to the latest data published by scientists in Lithuania and Poland, will reveal the history of the residence of the rulers and decision-making of state importance in Biršton, as well as the hunting tradition in Biršton Žvērinčiu. During the evening, the trio "Amici" will perform. Excerpts from Justin Marcinkevičius's poem "The Tree of Knowledge" will be read by actor Ignas Ciplijauskas.
