A berth for passenger ships has been opened in Birštonas

The floating berth for passenger ships was installed by the company Nemuno turas.

"The most important thing is that the pier will be available to everyone sailing on the Nemunas. If they want to visit Birštonas, they will be able to moor and use the pier infrastructure free of charge, ”said Mindaugas Žiedelis, the head of the company that installed the pier.

According to him, the investment in the pier in Birštonas amounts to 20 thousand. euros. The goal is to popularize navigation on the Nemunas, providing the opportunity for convenient mooring.

The new pier is a pontoon of metal construction with a draft of only 30 cm. It is 24 meters long and eight meters wide.

The marina was brought from Kaunas by the ship Algirdas, this process lasted ten hours. At the end of the season, the pontoon pier will return to the old pier of Kaunas Lagoon by winter on the same road.

Preparations for the marina took three months. It can accommodate 100 passengers at a time.
