Uncle and uncle dance performance
The cost of the event
10.00 - 11.00 €
The masterpiece of the literary classic of the writer Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas comes to life with the narrative of movement: the state ensemble Lietuva presents a modern dance performance Uncles and Uncles. For the first time, only dancers, together with Kristina Tarasevičiūtė and David Meškauskas, who are well known in the entertainment world, participate in the program of the ensemble Lietuva. The performers will tell the story not in words, but in the language of movement through dance - as far as is known, no one was yet determined to present this Lithuanian short story in the dance genre. The premiere is dedicated to the writer's 150th birth anniversary, and 2019 is published in the year of J. Tumas-Vaizgant.
“We dance to Vaižgantas! Unexpected? Maybe, ”says director Aušra Krasauskaitė, as the choreographer was awarded the Golden Stage Cross. Interestingly, J. Tumas-Vaižgantas himself was a passionate theater fan. Not only a writer but also a priest, an active public figure, he disregarded the ban on priests attending the theater - he loved writing peer reviews. As a result, the church government has repeatedly been questioned.
Another surprise of the premiere is the appearance of the famous dancer David Meškauskas in the new amplitude. A sports dance representative, a participant in television projects and competitions, is increasingly accepting the challenges of musical theater, so D. Meškauskas will be one of the main characters in the dance performance "Uncles and Uncles." The director has no doubt that this personality visually matches the imaginary character of Michael, has the right plasticity and movement, and viewers will see David quite different from what he is used to.
