about

The book will be presented by one of its compilers, senior bibliographer of the Ąžuolynas Library, historian Dr. Mindaugas Balkus.
The publication reviews the 75-year development of the Ąžuolynas Library from a modest Kaunas regional library to the largest public library in Lithuania.
The unique location of the library – the Little Oak Grove – and the concept of the modernized library building “library in the park – park in the library” are discussed.
The book presents the library's buildings, rich document collection, technological innovations, exceptional events, engaging exhibitions, significant projects, overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, etc.
Figuratively speaking, the book reveals how the Oak Grove Library grew from a tiny little hole into a sturdy oak tree.
The book was published as part of the project "The History of the Ąžuolynas Library Opens to the Public." The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
There will be photography and/or filming during the event, so please be aware that you may be seen in photos or videos of the event, which may be published in various media outlets.
