about
Sailing on the Birštonas-Prienai route, you will get acquainted with the picturesque landscape of the Great Nemunas Loops. While sailing by boat, it is advisable to look around and observe nature, the river valley, the coasts, and the slopes. On the section between the city of Prienai and the village of Lengveniškės, you sail past islands that are popular with birds. Since early spring, the islands have been bustling with many ducks, gulls, eiders, herons, cormorants, swans, common and little terns, and red-legged partridges that have come to love the river islands and breed here. This area is part of the Great Nemunas Loops Hydrographic Reserve of the Nemunas Loops Regional Park. This is an extremely important territory intended to preserve the rare species of the Common Tern and the Little Tern. Upon arrival in the city of Prienai, there are many attractions visible from the water: the former Prienai military town, the cherry blossom garden, the Žiburis hill, the Kęstutis monument, the Greimai bridge, the Prienai castle site and manor house, and the Suvalkija-Dzūkija border. A place where you can feel like you are both a Suvalkija resident and a Dzūkis resident at the same time.
Duration – 2 hours (with live music and guide narration). Departure from Birštonas at 19:30. The boat departs from the pier at the “Eglės sanatorium”.
