about
We kindly invite you to listen to the author's artistic composition by actor Andrius Bialobžeskis based on the creative motifs of artist Liudas Jakimavičius on June 17 (Tuesday) at 6:30 PM at the Birštonas Public Library.
Liudvikas Jakimavičius (1959–2022) – poet, playwright, literary critic, public and cultural figure, remained in the memory of his relatives and literature for a long time. As contemporaries recall, L. Jakimavičius was the only one of the Maironis Prize laureates, honoring the poet Maironis, to kneel before his monument, placing a bouquet of flowers at his feet.
In an interview, L. Jakimavičius said: "The purpose of poetry has perhaps remained the same - to say something beautiful or ugly and important about a person or the world, to capture in words some insight that seems to the poet similar to, to put it too grandly, enlightenment."
Liudvikas graduated from Vilnius University in 1985 with a degree in Lithuanian language and literature, and from the Lithuanian Academy of Music's scriptwriting courses in 1991. In 1988–1998 he collaborated with the Šėpos Theatre, was one of the young editors of the cultural magazine Sietynas, worked in the editorial office of the monthly Metai, and since 1998 in the editorial office of 7 meno dienos, in production offices, as a scriptwriter and director for Baltijos TV, and in the editorial office of Literatūras ir meno. He wrote plays and works for children, and his poems have been translated into English and other languages.
The artistic composition of actor A. Bialobžeskis reveals the spirit of the poet L. Jakimavičius, the complexity of his inner world, and the black-and-white and white-and-black colors of life.
