about

In the retrospective exhibition, J. Galdikaitė presents three periods of her work. The early ones are represented by graphic works made using dry needle and etching techniques. The vast majority of them are religious. The second creative stage is also dominated by the sacred theme - the creative expression of that period is the collages in the windows (it is one of these collages that gave the name to this exhibition). Finally, the current work of the artist is presented - graphic graphic works. Here, J. Galdikaitė often uses an abstract image of a woman to convey her feelings and thoughts.
The artist herself describes her multifaceted work as follows: "I am interested in expressing what I feel, experience, remember and forget, what I hide... Often, behind the simplicity of the external image, ornate decorativeness, flickering, there are feelings, thoughts, emotions."
It is this world of feelings and thoughts that fills J. Galdikaitė's work with a variety of motifs, signs, tonal combinations, and rhythmic sounds that originate from the surrounding distant unknown world and her immediate environment with all its forms. "Each element here has a hidden meaning," says the creator. - Objects are treated metaphorically, revealing cultural, existential and philosophical layers of meaning.
