Birštonas pedestrian and bicycle viaduct - the most successful in 2022. communication project in the regions

This achievement of the new viaduct connecting the two parts of the city of Birštonas is the result of our consistent work. Thank you for the evaluation", said Edvardas Citvaras, vice mayor of Birštonas municipality, while accepting the award.
The overpass built for cyclists and pedestrians over the A-16 highway Vilnius-Marijampolė has been operational since 2022. of August It connected the two separated parts of the city of Birštonas, making it safe and convenient for residents and tourists to travel from one side of the city to the other without crossing a busy road. Birštonas municipality is currently managing the access to the viaduct: it has reconstructed the garden community street leading to the viaduct, connects the Bokštos alley path with existing and new pedestrian and bicycle paths, and adapts the paths for people with disabilities by installing tactile surfaces and lighting.
Other nominees were also proposed for this nomination: the longest pedestrian bridge in Lithuania in Biržai (525 m), which connects the city center and the Astravas manor; Palanga-Sventoji bicycle path; Lazdija district free public transport operating in the territory of the municipality. The winners of the nominations were chosen by the Commission of Tourism Professionals and the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania Mindaugas Tarnauskas based on the submitted candidacies of travelers, and commemorative statuettes were presented to the winners.
